McLellan is a co-owner and Chairman of Africa Continental Holdings, LLC, a consulting company focusing on sub-Sahara Africa.
McLellan is a former member of the Board of Directors of ITC Holdings (NYSE ITC), the largest independent electric transmission company in the U.S.
He also serves as an Independent Trustee of the JNL Series Trust, a $90+ billion variable annuity fund managed by Jackson National Life Insurance Company.
During his career, Michigan has served on the boards of directors of a number of companies, including:
- Manufacturers Life Insurance Company of Michigan
- Crown America Life Insurance Company
- Mercantile & General Life Reinsurance Company of America
- Michigan Information and Research Service, Inc.
For many years McLellan was involved in telecommunications policy and regulation. He has served as Chairman of the Michigan Competitive Telecommunications Providers Association and as Secretary/Treasurer of the Michigan Alliance for Competitive Telecommunication. He is currently a member of the Advisory Board for the Michigan State University James H. and Mary B. Quello Center for Telecommunication Management and Law.
McLellan has been an active advocate for business interests in Michigan and served as Treasurer and Chair of the Board of Directors of the Michigan Chamber of Commerece. His commitment to free market economics is reflected in his role as a founder and long time member of the board of directors of the Mackinac Center for Public Policy.
